Well, by now, most of you
have probably forgotten about this blog, and given that I haven’t published
anything since May 1st, that probably explains why. But there’s a good
reason for my absence. You see, since 2014, I have followed pretty much the
same formula – find something interesting, notate, draft, post, repeat. But I
think that while that model was a good starting point, it’s time to make some
changes that I feel will truly optimize your reading experience and really take
the QuickLap name to new levels. Let’s get into just what those changes will
be:
A NEW LOOK
I’ve had this blog up and
running for just over 3 years, and we’ve had the same logo since day one. But,
as the leaves change, so to will our branding, with this shiny new logo and
brand direction designed by yours truly. Since I am a Graphic Designer by day, I
wanted to give my blog a fresher, cleaner and bolder brand image that really
captures my passion for all things automotive and stands out among the many
other automotive publications in the bloggersphere; and I think that this
should really help to make that captivating first impression. But, don’t think
that the changes happening here are just skin deep. Oh no. There’s much more to
look forward to.
NEW CONTENT
They say a good publication
appeals to several areas and interests of the automotive world, and I think it’s
time we brought QuickLap into line with that virtue. My goal moving forward is
to ensure that I am providing a variety of quality content that gives everyone
a little something to read up on, whether you’re a devoted enthusiast, or you
just really enjoy watching rally cars hit trees while airborne. But, this is
where you come in – because knowing what content to produce really comes down
to the feedback I get from you, the reader. As I roll out the new editorial
calendar, I will be in adaptation mode for the next few months, changing
content here and editing posts there, all in the effort to deliver you the best
reading experience possible. More videos, More pictures, and most of all, more
cars. I’m also going to be sure to deliver news content from around the
industry, focusing on the latest coming from your favorite manufacturers, and
ones you might not have heard of. Which brings me to my final and probably most
crucial change -
A NEW, LOCAL APPROACH.
Everyone who’s ever owned a
car that is special to them has a story or two about it. Whether it’s how you
came across it or if you performed a full restoration, I want to know YOUR
stories. Sure, we can interview big names and get you news from around the
industry, but it’s readers like you that I want to really engage and learn
about. So, If you have a fascinating, interesting, or just downright amusing
story to share about your ride, TALK TO ME! I am eager to hear about how your
automotive ventures have impacted your life. Still driving that Honda you’ve
had since high school? Are you on the verge of some ridiculously high
mileage-milestone? Do you have a track car that you hoon on the weekends or a
Rock Crawler that can champion the most difficult of trails? Tell me. Tell me
everything. It’s your stories that will truly elevate this blog and really work
to bring us together. This, along with events that happen in and around the
Chicago area will be of central importance to QuickLap’s content. Car shows,
track days, you name it, we’ll be doing our damndest to get the story covered
here.
