It was completely by chance that I happened to be going down the same street that Sunday morning as I made my way home from the city after a weekend with some friends. As I made my way down Monroe street, two large "Road Closed" signs diverted traffic, and it wasn't until I got a closer look that I would find out why.
A quick skim of the event poster that greets spectators at the corner of Monroe and Clark Street in Downtown Chicago reveals that this was the meeting point for the 18th Annual Ferrari Festival; an annual event run by Italian Village Restaurants in Chicago invites over 60 award-winning Ferraris to showcase their curb appeal in the windy city. From classic 350s to 458 Italias, Ferraris from nearly all generations lined the block on Monroe. As a bonus, the proceeds made by the entrants to the showcase went toward Children's Memorial Hospital and the Inspiration Corporation.
A cover band played music in the background and as I walked down the street camera in hand, enthusiasts evoked their passion for their Ferraris as they engaged in conversations about their own experiences with owning such an iconic sports car. Thus, the camera came out with the intention of capturing the energy of the afternoon. So, 65 award-winning Ferraris all coming together on the perfect Sunday afternoon for a good cause? Here's what that looked like:
Disclosure: It's cool if you want to download these pictures, but Please be sure to ask nicely! I'll probably say yes.
